HISTORY
William Holder was the first permanent non-native resident of Redwood City. Though born in England, he came to California from Australia. In 1852 he flew the American flag for the first time in Redwood City. He was active in the expansion and growth of the town. He owned most of the property at the north end of Main Street and in the 1880's layed out formal lots.
